With Earth Day, Arbor Day and the City in its 15th year of being honored as a Tree City USA, a celebratory tree planting is scheduled on the morning of April 23.
All are welcome to attend the planting of a 15-foot Sitka Spruce, a species native to the Pacific Northwest. The event will start at 10 a.m. this Thursday at S. 15th and Dock Street. The planting is another way for Tacoma to mark the many sustainability efforts underway citywide, and the tree may be used for holiday celebrations in the future.
Additionally, Earth Day and Arbor Day proclamations will be made on April 21 at the City Council meeting which starts at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers located on the first floor of the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St.
