City of Tacoma: Applicants needed to fill 6 positions on 3 citizen panels

The City of Tacoma is looking to fill six positions on three citizen panels.

First, applicants are needed to fill three at-large positions, and one position representing Tacoma public education on the City of Tacoma Arts Commission.

The City of Tacoma Arts Commission is comprised of 15 volunteer members who are appointed by Tacoma City Council’s Economic Development Committee and confirmed by Tacoma City Council. Members are Tacoma residents who are arts advocates and artists. The City of Tacoma Arts Commission provides leadership in supporting and enhancing the arts for the benefit of Tacoma and its residents. The primary responsibility of the City of Tacoma Arts Commission is to create policies to support the ongoing development of arts programs and projects in Tacoma. Its primary programs include the funding of artists and arts organizations to provide services for the Tacoma residents, Tacoma Arts Month, and oversight of public art as part of the City of Tacoma’s Municipal Art Program.

Second, applicants are needed to fill one position on the City of Tacoma Board of Ethics.

The City of Tacoma Board of Ethics consists of five regular members recommended by Tacoma City Council’s Government Performance and Finance Committee and appointed by Tacoma City Council. The membership term is three years and is comprised of Tacoma residents. The role of the City of Tacoma Board of Ethics is to receive, investigate, and make recommendations for disposition of complaints of Code of Ethics violations by the Tacoma City Manager, the Director of Tacoma Public Utilities, a member of the Tacoma Public Utility Board (Utility Board), or a City of Tacoma elected official. The City of Tacoma Board of Ethics may also render advisory opinions in response to a request by one of the aforementioned officials, and render and publish formal opinions on any matter within the scope of the City of Tacoma Board of Ethics’ authority which it may deem appropriate.

Finally, applicants are needed to fill the citizen position on the City of Tacoma Audit Advisory Board.

The City of Tacoma Audit Advisory Board consists of each member of Tacoma City Council’s Government Performance and Finance Committee, two members of the Tacoma Public Utilities Board, and one person knowledgeable in government performance and financial auditing, public administration, and government financial and fiscal practices. The chair of Tacoma City Council’s Government Performance and Finance Committee serves as chair of the City of Tacoma Audit Advisory Board. The City of Tacoma Audit Advisory Board supports Tacoma City Council’s Government Performance and Finance Committee in carrying out its audit advisory, oversight, and liaison functions. These functions include ensuring coordination of audit needs of Tacoma City Council and the work of independent auditors retained by the City of Tacoma to audit City of Tacoma programs, functions, and activities; making audit management recommendations to Tacoma City Council; and acting as a liaison between Tacoma City Council and the office of the Tacoma City Manager with regard to audits of City of Tacoma programs, functions, and activities that are not under the direction of Tacoma City Council.
