Tacoma City Councilmember Julie Anderson announced yesterday she is seeking election as Pierce County Auditor. Anderson is serving her second term as an at-large councilmember and is currently Deputy Mayor.

“I am excited for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Pierce County as their next Auditor,” Anderson said in a statement. “The voters of Pierce County spoke loud and clear when they made the Auditor a nonpartisan position. Pierce County deserves fair and practical leadership that is directly accountable to the voters – not political parties.”

Anderson currently works as a Senior Policy Advisor with the State of Washington Department of Commerce. Her focus there includes workforce and economic development, clean technology and innovation, green economy jobs and clean technology.

Anderson will kick off her campaign June 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at The Poodle Dog, 1522 54th Ave E, in Fife.
