Don Meyer joined the Pierce College Board of Trustees on Oct. 1.
He was appointed by Gov. Gary Locke and will serve a five-year term on the five-member policy-making body.
Meyer is executive director of the Foss Waterway Development Authority (FWDA).
He took that position in 1999 after 14 years as the deputy executive director for Port of Tacoma.
FWDA has development responsibility for more than 1.5 miles of waterfront property in downtown Tacoma with a specific focus on marina, residential, hotel, retail and office development uses.
Current projects include the new Museum of Glass and a 236-unit residential development called Theas Landing.
Meyer is also involved in community as a board member of Executive Council of Greater Tacoma, the Harold LeMay Car Museum, B.E.S.T. Scholarship Program for Bethel School District, Spanaway Advisory Commission on Land Use, and Tacoma-Pierce County Convention and Visitor Bureau.
