The City of Gig Harbor will host a public open house next month to discuss the Donkey Creek Restoration & Transportation Improvement Project.
Scheduled to begin in March, the project will restore Donkey Creek between the Harbor and Donkey Creek Park, provide widened sidewalks and a new pedestrian trail, and improve traffic flow along Harborview Drive, North Harborview Drive and Austin Street. Funding for the project is provided by grants from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Neighborhood Initiative, as well as local City of Gig Harbor funds.The City of Gig Harbor awarded a construction contract to MidMountain Contractors, Inc. in November.
The public open house will be held on Weds., Feb. 20, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Harbor History Museum, located at 4121 Harborview Drive, in Gig Harbor. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of City of Gig Harbor staff and construction staff about the construction, view diagrams explaining the many phases of the project, and learn history of the area under construction.
