The Port of Tacoma recently selected Carol C. Mitchell as Director of Human Resources. In this position, she oversees a staff of four human resources professionals, who manage the Port’s employment and benefits programs.
“As our Port continues to grow, we must also continue to retain and recruit people that will help us meet our goals,” said the Port’s Deputy Executive Director, John Wolfe. “Carol has a proven track record of creativity and success at integrating HR functions throughout the organization.”
Before joining the Port, Mitchell was Director of Diversity Programs for Edge Learning Institute (Tacoma), where she provided leadership and creative direction for the firm’s diversity program, marketed to private and governmental employers.
Mitchell was also an Executive Consultant/Attorney for FutureGuides, LLC, a Tacoma-based human resources consultancy, specializing in training and conflict resolution.
Mitchell holds a Bachelors degree in Sociology from the University of Washington (1991) and a law degree from the Seattle University School of Law (1997).
