In March, the City of Tacoma hosted a public workshop on the Bayside Trails. At the meeting, concerns were expressed about ongoing issues including crime and homeless encampments, stormwater management needs and invasive plants. These issues impact upon the open space and the neighborhood around it. On Thurs., June 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., a meeting will be held to discuss these management issues in the Tacoma Municipal Building North, Room 16, 728 St. Helens Ave. City staff will present proposed short-term management actions, and solicit your input. In addition, staff from Metro Parks will be on hand to discuss the short-term management of the trails and vegetation in Garfield Gulch. A draft of the proposed management steps is available online at http://www.cityoftacoma.org/planning (select “Bayside Trails”).
