The Tacoma Arts Commission is seeking South Puget Sound artists to participate in an Art Slam as part of Tacoma’s Art at Work month. On Nov. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m., all visual and performing art submissions will be projected on the big screen at the Rialto Theater in downtown Tacoma. A selection of spoken word artists will also perform as part of the show. The event will be followed by a reception in the lobby of the Rialto.
Artists working in a broad spectrum of media including visual art, music, dance, performance, film and literary arts are encouraged to submit work. Visual artists are asked to submit up to 10 images and performing artists should submit one two-minute performing arts piece on DVD or CD. The deadline for general Art Slam submissions is Oct. 27. Spoken word artists are asked to submit up to five literary pieces for consideration.
The deadline for spoken word applications is Oct. 13. Applications and guidelines for submissions can be found at http://www.tacomaculture.org/arts/ArtatWork.asp or call (253) 591-5191 to have a copy mailed or e-mailed.
