The Port of Tacoma has selected Tara Hazarian to the newly-created position of Public Affairs Manager.

With more than 15 years experience in strategic communications, community outreach and public relations program management, Hazarian will focus on several key areas of Port communications, including economic development, transportation and environmental issues.

Before joining the Port, Hazarian managed regional communications for public involvement agency EnviroIssues (Tacoma). She also served in the Community Relations Department for the City of Tacoma (2003-2006) and was Principal of Get Real! Communications (Tacoma, 2000-2003). Hazarian’s background also includes seven years working for newspapers and as a freelance journalist.

Hazarian holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo (1990).
