Aecon completes construction at South Hill Center

Today marked the grand opening of Bed Bath & Beyond at Puyallup’s South Hill Center. Aecon Buildings Inc. recently completed construction of the 135,000-square-foot shopping center on South Meridian, with this latest being the last of the three major retail tenants to open.
Best Buy kicked off the openings on June 14, and Ross Dress for Less opened on June 22. The retail center’s two smaller buildings have yet to be leased.
The completion of the shopping center has been a long time coming for Aecon Buildings Inc.
Although the actual construction was on a “fast-track,” and the facility was erected in only six months, Aecon has been involved with the project for over three years.
Aecon purchased the land several years ago and eventually sold the project to the current owner, Gramor Development.
“Over the course of this project’s life, Aecon has had the opportunity to bring its full range of services to bear,” according to George Kramer, President of Aecon Buildings Inc. “From land acquisition, consultant selection and management, lender and tenant negotiations, and finally to its construction, we’ve nurtured this project along.”
The shopping center was built by Aecon, designed by both Freiheit & Ho Architects and Mulvanny/G2 and is owned by Gramor Development.
