Pierce Transit has named Gregg Snyder, Transit Task Manager of the joint Washington State Department of Transportation and Oregon Department of Transportation I-5 Columbia River Crossing Project, as its new Vice President of Capital Development effective March 17, 2008. Snyder’s primary responsibilities will include planning strategic capital development and coordinating multiple capital projects from conceptual initiation through completed construction.
At the Columbia River Crossing Project, Snyder was responsible for transit planning and engineering associated with the $4.2 billion dollar highway, transit, and bridge replacement project.
Snyder has fifteen years of transit industry experience and an extensive background in transit project and program management. His transit project portfolio includes seven transit centers, eight park-and-rides, three maintenance facilities, three high capacity transit projects, and two transit communications projects with a constructed value of over $500 million dollars. He has also completed over three dozen urban and rural transit service plans in seven western states.
Snyder has garnered numerous awards for quality work at the regional, state, and national level; in 2000 he was named an honorary “Friend of Phoenix” by Mayor Skip Rimza and the City Council for his public transportation work in Phoenix, Arizona. Snyder is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and was recently certified as a Community Transit Manager (CCTM) by the Community Transportation Association of America. He is a graduate of Washington State University and earned a Masters degree at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.
