On Weds., Aug. 6, the City of Tacoma is hosting an open house to provide details on the upcoming Pacific Avenue improvement project and the impact it will have on the immediate area. The project team will share the schedule and phasing for the project and will discuss the scope of work, which will run on Pacific Avenue between South 17th and South 25th streets and South 25th Street from Pacific Avenue to C Street.
The Pacific Avenue improvement project involves removing the existing asphalt surface and base section of the street and replacing it with a new base section and asphalt. Sidewalks and curb and gutter will also be repaired, where needed.
Construction is slated to start mid-August and is scheduled to be complete by early November. The work is scheduled to take place at night from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. in two phases:
— 1st phase (north half):17th to 21st Street
— 2nd phase (south half): 21st to 25th including Pacific to C Street.
