The Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on the “Downtown Plan Update” on Weds., Oct. 1, at 5 p.m., in the Council Chambers, Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St. An informational session will be held on Weds., Sept. 24, at 5 p.m., also in the Council Chambers, for interested citizens to learn and ask questions about the project. The Downtown Plan Update would modify the text, goals and policies of Destination Downtown, an element of the Comprehensive Plan. The proposed revisions incorporate emerging initiatives and provide guidance for implementation strategies concerning land use, transportation, parking, economic development, environmental sustainability, transit, zoning and urban design.
Written comments are welcome and must be submitted by 5 p.m., Fri., Oct. 10 to the Tacoma Planning Commission, 747 Market St., Rm. 1036, Tacoma, WA 98402, or faxed to (253) 591-2002, or e-mailed to planning@cityoftacoma.org (enter “Downtown Plan” in the subject line).
