Tacoma Community College (TCC) will honor former TCC athletes at the Second Annual Hall of Fame Dinner and Auction on Nov. 8 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the college’s Tacoma campus, Opgaard Student Center, Building 11, 6501 S. 19th St., Tacoma.
At this year’s Hall of Fame event the athletics department will recognize individuals and teams from the early- to mid-1980s, including two athletes who were among the first women to win individual and team championships at TCC. While men’s athletics started in 1966, women’s athletics was not launched until 1979.
Individual honorees include John Carr, Holly Hovey, Jeff Moser, Bill Pethick, Elizabeth Roffler (Harris), and Sam Tuttle. Carr was the MVP for 1982 NWAACC men’s basketball.
Hovey was MVP for 1986 NWAACC women’s basketball. Moser was a two time all-region performer while playing on the 1985 and 86 men’s soccer teams, and he was also MVP of the NWAACC all-star game in 1986. Pethick was a two time all-league performer and played men’s soccer on the 1984 and 85 teams. Roffler (Harris) was the NWAACC high jump champion in 1985 and 1986, and was also member of the 1986 women’s basketball team. Tuttle was MVP of NWAACC men’s basketball for 1983. Team honorees include 1982 mens basketball, 1983 men’s basketball, and 1984 mens soccer.
The Hall of Fame event schedule includes a cocktail hour, silent auction, and dinner. The keynote speaker will be Frank Bosone, Executive Director of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges from 1972-1992.
