Individuals who want to make their voices heard during the 2009 Legislative Session can learn how at CAN-DO — the free Legislative Briefing and Advocacy Training on Jan. 22.
CAN-DO (Citizens Action Network-Dial Olympia) is specially designed to provide training to ordinary citizens for legislative advocacy. Basic information on how the legislature works is followed by tips on speaking up and advocating with legislators on important issues during the session.
The 2009 Legislative Briefing and Advocacy Training will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Soundview Conference Room, 3611 S. “D” Street in Tacoma. The agenda includes an overview of the Governor’s proposed 2009-2011 budget, priority items for the aging and disabilities networks and the nuts-and-bolts of legislative advocacy.
