When the best amateur golfers in the world come to Chambers Bay next year for the 110th U.S. Amateur Championship, you could work “inside the ropes” as a volunteer; host a player in your home for the week; entertain clients, colleagues and friends through a hospitality package; or be a spectator and walk down the fairways behind the players.
The U.S. Amateur Championship at Chambers Bay offers a number of opportunities, and now you can learn more about them on the Championship’s new Web site at http://www.2010usamateur.com .

The success of the Championship will rely on volunteer support from the community. Opportunities include such on-course duties as marshals, spotters, standard bearers and walking scorers. Off-the-course needs include operations, admissions and transportation. Volunteer slots are expected to fill up quickly due to the excitement surrounding the nationally-televised event.

Some residents in the area will show off Pacific Northwest hospitality by hosting players in their homes during the Championship. It will be a unique opportunity to share the experience first-hand.

Corporate hospitality packages will offer quality time with clients, friends and colleagues. Amenities include customized championship merchandise, VIP parking and playing spots in the Championship Invitational to be played on final-round USGA championship conditions at Chambers Bay.

The U.S. Amateur is the oldest national championship conducted by the United States Golf Association and is among the most prestigious championships in the world. Many of the great names of professional golf — such as Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods — grace the Havemeyer Cup.

Built by Pierce County in 2007 on the shores of Puget Sound, Chambers Bay will be the first municipal course to host the U.S. Amateur.
