The National Endowment for the Arts announced Tacoma’s Museum of Glass has been awarded a $50,000 American Recovery and Reinvestment Grant.
According to the NEA Web site, one-time grants are awarded to eligible organizations in an effort to preserve jobs in the nonprofit arts sector threatened by declines in philanthropic and other support during the current economic downturn.
In Washington State, 20 arts organizations shared approximately $1.2 million in grant awards. Other South Sound recipients include Evergreen State College (Olympia — $50,000) and the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission (Olympia — $50,000).
