The Port of Tacoma recently released photographs showing progress of the Lincoln Avenue Grade Separation (LAGS) project, which will raise Lincoln Avenue over key railroad tracks in the Port industrial area and remove the at-grade conflict between road and rail. The separation will aid in the flow of goods through the Port’s South and North Intermodal Yards and APM Terminals. The Port has completed three surface streets and relocated utilities to support the overall project. The overpass itself remained unfunded until the Port received $15.4 million in March from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. Construction on the final piece of the project began in September and is expected to be completed by May 2011.
