Celebrating 31 years of fun, family, fitness and friendly competition, the annual Sound to Narrows race will be held this Saturday, June 14, which is also Flag Day, so fly the stars & stripes proudly.
Sound to Narrows offers a variety of distances and events for people of all walks – or runs, as the case may be – of life. While the course and distance have changed over the years, the goals of fun, family, fitness and friendly competition remain.
The 12-kilometer run and walk traverses the scenic and hilly terrain of west Tacoma and beautiful Point Defiance Park. The 5k run and walk is a fast, yet challenging, course. A 1.2-mile Junior Shuffle tests the hearts and legs of children 4-10 years of age, while the 20-yard Diaper Dash – a fan favorite – is a showcase of Olympians in the making.
Proceeds benefit the MultiCare Center for Healthy Living and its programs for stroke prevention and education in the community.
