Members of City Council are scheduled Nov. 23 to hear the final reading of an ordinance that would adopt the 2011-2012 Biennial Budget. The 2011-2012 Biennial Budget for the City of Tacoma is required by City Charter and State of Washington laws. No reserve funds were used to balance this proposed budget and, if approved, City Council will begin the biennium with $2.65 million in their emergency contingency fund and a 2011-2012 budget that is $40 million smaller than the previous biennial budget. The city manager presented his budget to Council on Sept. 28 and held budget workshops throughout October and early November.
