While the Port of Tacoma opened the new Lincoln Avenue overpass last week ( http://www.tacomadailyindex.com/portals-code/list.cgi?paper=88&cat=23&id=1988588&more=0 ), the construction season is just beginning for other area bridges in Tacoma and Pierce County.
The City of Tacoma has closed the Lincoln Avenue Bridge for six months while it replaces two bridge deck spans and repaves the other two deck sections. The bridge also will be repainted and undergo bearing, sidewalk, and guardrail repair. A detour map is available on the City’s project Web site at http://www.cityoftacoma.org/Page.aspx?nid=1024 .
The City of Tacoma is scheduled this month to inspect the Eells Street Bridge over the Puyallup River between Tacoma and Fife. One-lane closures during the inspections June 20 through 24 could cause travel delays.
Finally, Pierce County’s construction of a new bridge in the Frederickson area is scheduled to close a portion of 176th Street East for more than four months. A detour map and more information are available on the County’s Web site at http://www.co.pierce.wa.us/pc/abtus/ourorg/pwu/fredericksonareaprojects/main.htm .
