Enjoy art, baseball at Cheney Stadium Arts Appreciation Night

Join friends and families Mon., Aug. 29 for a night of family fun, championship baseball and a dedication of the public art at the newly renovated Cheney Stadium. Arts Appreciation Night will include a tour of the artwork at the stadium, dance performance with Fab-5 and Rhubarb, a hands-on art project with the Museum of Glass’ Kids Design Glass program, live performances by several local arts groups and other arts activities.

The tour of public art will begin at 5:30 p.m. by the general admission gates and will include brief talks by the artists about their work including Beliz Brother’s massive-scale light sculpture, Tilt; David Franklin’s LED-lit school of salmon, Home Run; Paul Michaels’ bronze sculpture of Ben Cheney; Jennevieve Schlemmer’s baseball-themed mosaic, It’s Outta Here; and the Museum of Glass’ installation of fine art glass.

After the art tour, watch the Tacoma Rainiers take on the Tucson Padres. Tickets for the game and tour are $9.95 and include a reserved seat game ticket, ballpark meal (hot dog, chips and drink), game program and optional tour of the artwork.
