Citizens seeking concealed pistol licenses, fingerprinting services, or copies of police reports will soon experience a more comfortable waiting environment at a new LESA Information Services public counter. LESA Information Services, currently located on the second floor of the County-City Building, will relocate to a renovated office across the street at 945 Tacoma Avenue South. The move will temporarily impact public counter hours. LESA’s public counter will be closed on Mon., Sept. 26 and Tues., Sept. 27. Normal business hours will resume when the new public counter officially opens on Weds., Sept. 28.
“LESA is very excited about the relocation of our records unit,” LESA Director Tom Orr said. “It offers the opportunity to further enhance and improve the experience of those who need our services.”
The move, part of a county-coordinated effort to improve court and jury services at the County-City Building, will provide a larger and seated waiting area and a new customer service numbering system designed to help speed the delivery of the diverse services LESA Information Services offers.
“LESA has been working hard behind the scenes to offset the impact of layoffs on the level of customer service,” Director Orr said. “Just last year, LESA began offering citizens the option to request many police reports online, reducing the need for them to make a trip just to submit a request. For those requests that are submitted online, LESA is often able to mail the requested documents — again reducing the need for a trip to pick up documents.”
Citizens visit LESA’s public counter for a variety of services such as concealed pistol licenses, law enforcement public records requests, fingerprinting, review of local criminal history, copies of collision reports, visa clearance statements, specialized forest product harvesting permits and for copies of monthly crime statistics by agency.
LESA’s Information Services public counter normal business hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The counter is closed to the public on Tuesdays, weekends and holidays. Agency phone numbers will remain the same; the main phone number is (253) 798-7441.
