The City of Tacoma and Metro Parks Tacoma will be teaming up to prune trees along Ruston Way April 3-4. Workers will start at the Old Town end of the promenade and work towards Hamilton Park. One lane of Ruston Way be closed around the tree work, but the street will be open. Flaggers will direct traffic. Because so many of the trees in that area have poor branching structures, this work is needed to reduce the chances of them splitting apart as they get larger, according to Metro Parks Urban Forester Kathy Sutalo. This tree pruning work is ordinary maintenance to prolong the safe lives of the existing trees. For more information, visit metroparkstacoma.org.
