New cargo-handling equipment arrives for Port terminal

Did you notice the huge heavy-lift ship anchored in Commencement Bay Tuesday?

The 768-foot Zhen Hua 25 from China was in town to deliver eight rubber-tired gantry cranes to Washington United Terminals. The cargo-handling equipment is among the first pieces ordered to serve the Grand Alliance shipping calls set to begin in late June. These cranes meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Tier IV Interim regulations, which are among the cleanest-burning diesel cargo-handling equipment.

The ship is headed down the Blair Waterway Wednesday morning to be unloaded at Washington United Terminals.
