Tacoma City Council is scheduled to be briefed Tuesday at City Hall on the community budget input process that has taken place since June.

Tacoma residents were invited to participate in the creation of the 2013-2014 biennial budget through a series of community meetings held in the five city council districts across the city. The meetings were designed to help residents understand the city’s budget development process and provide an opportunity to speak with city officials about current and future budget allocations and priorities, such as police, fire, libraries, street maintenance, social services and support for the arts and cultural programs. Individuals unable to attend one of the community budget input meetings were invited to share their thoughts by completing a questionnaire online. The questionnaire was available until Aug. 31.

The presentation Tuesday will include information from the community meetings, the city services questionnaire, budget input boxes, and citizen rating of city services. Staff will also provide an update on the employee engagement efforts.

Councilmembers will not take public comment during the study session, which will be held on Tues., Sept. 18 at noon in Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16.
