The Port of Tacoma Commission is scheduled this week to consider a request for design work to prepare a Port-owned property for future industrial development and habitat restoration.
The Port intends to restore about 18 acres of habitat on the site in advance of future development. The habitat work would include restoring Wapato Creek to a more natural meandering stream. The remaining 100 acres of the site are expected to be prepared for new business opportunities, as well as accommodate the extension of State Route 167.
Commissioners will also consider a request for additional design work to upgrade Terminal 3. The work is the next step in preparing Terminals 3 and 4 to serve the larger container ships expected to call the Port in the future.
The Port of Tacoma Commission will discuss these issues during its meeting on Thurs., Oct. 4, at 12 p.m. in Room 104 of The Fabulich Center, 3600 Port of Tacoma Road. A copy of the agenda is available online here. Meetings are available live and on demand here.
