If you want to learn more about the University of Washington Tacoma’s future development plans, you may want to attend Tacoma City Council’s community and economic development committee meeting this week at City Hall.

According to school officials, the university is expected to grow from its current student population of approximately 4,000 to as many as 10,000 students in seven to 10 years.

Harlan Patterson, UW Tacoma Vice Chancellor for Administration, is scheduled to discuss two major areas of the next phase of facilities growth: completing the last renovations on campus of the legacy buildings (Tacoma Paper and Stationary; Tioga; and Swiss Apartments); and developing new spaces that will invite and allow partnerships between the university and the larger Tacoma community.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held on Tues., Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market Street, Conference Room 248. If you aren’t able to attend, audio recordings and handouts from the meeting will be available on the City of Tacoma’s Web site 24 hours after the meeting.
