Sound Glass recently marked its 30th anniversary in the South Sound, a significant milestone for a company that started in Lakewood, expanded to Tacoma and Bremerton, and has served over 150,000 homeowners, contractors, and businesses over three decades.
Sound Glass opened for business on January 13, 1983. By the end of its first year in business, the company consisted of nine employees and four service trucks. Since then, Sound Glass has grown to include over 60 employees and 30 service vehicles.
“I chose to start Sound Glass after sizing-up the competition and deciding I could make a good run with potential to grow the business,” said Sound Glass President Warren Willoughby. “Thanks to the support of our customers, we’ve done just that.” This year, Willoughby foresees increased business, particularly in the commercial market due to contracts on the military bases and the upswing in remodeling and building business. January was the company’s busiest month on record.
Lakewood City Council plans to recognize the company’s achievements later this month.
“Sound Glass is a pillar in the Lakewood business community,” said City of Lakewood Economic Development Director economic development director Ellie Chambers-Grady. She noted the company has supported the local YMCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Broadway Center for Performing Arts, and has donated various products and services to charity foundations over the years. “We are looking forward to recognizing Sound Glass’s anniversary.”
