Three contractors have submitted bids on a project to upgrade the floating dock at a fire station on Tacoma’s Thea Foss Waterway.
The project calls for replacing the piles and repairing and rehabilitating the existing floating dock system at Tacoma Fire Station No. 18, which is located at 302 E. 11th St., according to bid documents prepared by City of Tacoma staff. The project budget is estimated at $175,000. Work must be completed by Feb. 1, 2015.
The City of Tacoma put the project out for bid last month (see “Repairs planned for Foss Waterway fire station floating dock,” Tacoma Daily Index, Sept. 16, 2014). The bid deadline expired on Tues., Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. A pre-bid meeting was held at Fire Station No. 18 on Weds., Oct. 1, at 1:30 p.m. The project was designed by Everett, Wash.-based Coast & Harbor Engineering.
The following contractors submitted bids for the project: Blackwater Marine (Kirkland, Wash. — $266,301; Add 1 $53,000; Add 2 $80,000); Orion Marine Group (Tacoma, Wash. — $121,400; Add 1 $19,000; Add 2 $21,500); and Quigg Bros., Inc. (Aberdeen, Wash. — $114,000; Add 1 $26,000; Add 2 $16,000).
