In honor of International Women’s Day Wednesday, March 8, Mixx 96.1 KXXO will be featuring female headliners – and only female stars – all day long. Listeners will hear all the top female artists of the day – Adele to Beyoncé to Kelly Clarkson to Katy Perry to Taylor Swift – plus some stone-cold classics from the past, like Heart, Tina Turner, and Aretha Franklin asking for “RESPECT.”
What you won’t hear are Mixx 96.1’s women announcers. “In celebration of Women’s Day and solidarity with women around the world, all of the women who work at the station are being given a paid day off,” said Mixx 96.1 station manager (and co-owner) Toni Holm, who came up with the concept.
That means that several regulars, including morning host and news director Ann D’Angelo, afternoon announcer Cari Palmer, and evening DJ Jennifer Mathis will not be heard on March 8. However, listeners to Mixx 96.1 can hear them almost any other day.
Mixx 96.1, the “South Sound’s Music Mix(x),” is an independent, locally-owned radio station broadcasting a mix(x) of hits from the ’80s to now, from the Cascades to the coast from Olympia.
