State Parks announces 2017 Waikiki Beach summer concerts

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission announces the schedule for the 2017 summer concert series, now in its 12th year, at Waikiki Beach in Cape Disappointment State Park, 244 Robert Gray Dr., Ilwaco. The free concerts began Saturday, June 10, and run from 7 to 8:30 p.m, at Waikiki Beach, pictured below. The concert venue is along Jetty Road near the south end of the park.

From Waikiki Beach, which is technically on the Columbia River, concert goers can take in dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean from their seats in the outdoor amphitheater. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own seating, blankets and insect repellant, etc. A Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to the concerts, unless participants are already camped in the park.

June 24—Ranger and the ‘Re-Arrangers’

Get a taste of Gypsy Jazz with this Seattle-based band. The Re-Arrangers play swing standards, traditional Gypsy melodies and more.

July 8—Lincoln’s Beard

Dance the night away with this alternative folk rock band from Vancouver. This  high-energy show features their own original music.

July 22—Brownsmead Flats

A popular Oregon band, Brownsmead Flats fuses folk, bluegrass and Columbia-Pacific geography into a one-of-a-kind musical genre they call “Crabgrass.”

Aug. 12—Misty Mamas

Take in some home-style harmonies with this family-friendly bluegrass, gospel and folk-music group.

Aug. 26— La Famille Léger

Finish out the summer family-style with Famille Léger, a true family band that plays Acadian and French-Canadian music from Eastern Canada.
