Port of Seattle releases airport dining & retail opportunities for competitive bids

Businesses invited to information session and site tours at Sea-Tac Airport

The Port of Seattle has released the latest competitive bid opportunities for concessions at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Referred to as Lease Group 4, it includes seven dining and five retail opportunities. Interested businesses are invited to an upcoming information session and site tours, set for July 26, from 2 to 5 p.m. A second tour will be Aug. 2, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Business owners interested in attending need to register at sea-tacleasing@airprojects.net by July 21 with company name, meeting date and attendees’ names (a maximum of two per company). Both sessions begin at The Conference Center at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Parking on floors five to eight in the airport garage will be free of charge for attendees.

During the information session, participants will hear about the Port’s selection process, unit specifications and how operating at an airport differs from other locations. The tours will visit the locations included in Lease Group 4.

Port of Seattle Commissioners recently authorized the Port to move forward with the competitive selection process for a total of 21 units in multiple packages.

Sea-Tac is in the middle of a long-term dining and retail redevelopment program in which leases for the majority of the units are expiring over several years.  Several new locations are already set to open later this year including Floret, Terminal GetAway Spa, Starbucks Evenings and a new Qdoba.

The Port has set ambitious goals for engaging with small, local and minority businesses. In recent years, staff significantly increased outreach, networking and training programs for potential applicants, and provided feedback to businesses that were unsuccessful in their previous bids. Firms interested in competing for upcoming leases can register at our website to be notified about new leasing and training opportunities.

Sea-Tac Airport dining & retail by the numbers:

– 86 dining & retail units – will grow to more than 135 after the entire redevelopment

– $275 million annual airport dining & retail sales

– With the latest lease group awarded June 8, Sea-Tac will have 26 local businesses, 22 small business firms and 16 minority and women owned businesses (Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program or ACDBEs)

Sea-Tac has set annual passenger records for the past six years, totaling 45.7 million in 2016 – 3.4 million more passengers than in 2015. The eight percent passenger growth rate is Sea-Tac’s second largest in the past 20 years, only topped by 2015’s 12.9 percent increase. Sea-Tac is one of the fastest growing large hub airports in the U.S. and is the ninth busiest based on total passengers for the past three years.
