This free screening of the newly released, beautiful, and inspiring film Wasted! The Story of Food Waste is co-hosted by the City of Tacoma’s Preventing Wasted Food Program and the University of Puget Sound’s Sustainability Advisory Committee and the Center for Cultural Engagement.

Location: Rausch Auditorium, University of Puget Sound (1500 N. Warner St., Tacoma). Rausch Auditorium is located near the north end of campus in McIntyre Hall, Room 003. More information can be found here.

The 90 minute film will begin at 6:30 pm and will be followed by a brief discussion on the complex issue of wasted food. Also hear about local opportunities to support a more sustainable and just food system.

Arrive early to enjoy refreshments and secure a good seat in the theater! Wheelchair-accessible seating is available. Please note, this film contains some mature language.

Wasted! The Story of Food Waste aims to change the way people buy, cook, recycle, and eat food. Through the eyes of chef-heroes like Bourdain, Dan Barber, Mario Batali, Massimo Bottura, and Danny Bowien, audiences will see how the world’s most influential chefs make the most of every kind of food, transforming what most people consider scraps into incredible dishes that create a more secure food system. WASTED! exposes the criminality of food waste and shows us how each of us can make small changes – all of them delicious – to solve one of the greatest problems of the 21st Century.
