Grit City Trees is the City of Tacoma’s free street tree giveaway program, and applications for the 2018 season are being accepted now through Monday, September 10, 2018. This program provides free trees to Tacoma homeowners who are interested in planting in the right-of-way.
Applications can be submitted by individuals; however, residents are encouraged to work with their neighbors to apply for trees as a group. Trees will be available for individuals to pick up at the City’s nursery and will be delivered to neighborhood groups in October.
Interested residents must fill out the Grit City Trees application form and the corresponding tree care agreement must be signed by all participating property owners. The trees being used for this program are for planting in the right-of-way only and species availability is limited.
The goal of the program is to increase tree canopy and beautify neighborhoods through community building and tree planting. For more information, visit cityoftacoma.org/GritCityTrees **, contact trees@cityoftacoma.org or call at (253) 591-5213.
