Festive celebrations this fall and winter to feature Día de los Muertos and live reindeer
The Port of Seattle announced a new program, Celebrations at Sea-Tac, to honor holidays, traditions and cultures from the United Stations and global community. These celebrations begin in November, including:
Día de los Muertos: November 1
To celebrate Dia de los Muertos or “Day of the Dead,” a Mexican holiday to honor and remember loved ones that have passed on, Sea-Tac Airport is designing a daylong celebration in partnership with the Mexican Consulate, Latinos Unidos, the Port’s Latino employee resource group, and the Merchants at Sea-Tac. Festivities will encompass art installations, candy skull face painting and arts and crafts for children, food and beverage sampling and live performances.
Native American Heritage Month: November
In anticipation of the Port’s first Native American retailer, United Indians of All Tribes Foundation Sacred Circle Gallery and Gift Shop, Sea-Tac Airport will honor Native American Heritage Month in November. This celebration will be developed in partnership with the Native American Committee, a Port employee resource group, that is a connection throughout the Port and community on Native American culture and issues.
Season of Lights: December
Light-filled celebrations in wintertime are traditions visible around the globe. At Sea-Tac Airport, passengers can look forward to holiday entertainment from December 16 to 24, including a daily parade with live performance art, carols, puppetry and music, as well as souvenir giveaways and more throughout the Terminal sponsored by the Merchants at Sea-Tac. There will be a gift-wrapping station benefiting USO Northwest. Don’t miss live reindeer on December 19 and 20.
“These festive occasions make travel more meaningful and memorable,” said Lance Lyttle, Managing Director of Sea-Tac Airport. “As a global hub, we are committed to being welcoming and inclusive, such as celebrating holidays and traditions from the United States and around the world.”
Celebrations at Sea-Tac will continue in 2019 and beyond. Visit https://www.portseattle.org/page/celebrations-sea-tac-airport to learn more and preview the celebrations schedule.
