NOTICE OF PROBATE CLOSURE AND INTENT TO EXEMPT ESTATE FUNDS UNDER HOMESTEAD; MOTION TO CLOSE ESTATE AND DISTRIBUTE FUNDS

The Estate Administrator, Kellie Parker Potier, files this notice to creditors of the above named estate that she intends to close the estate and distribute funds. The probate administration is nearly completed and any person or organization having a claim against the decedent must, before twenty (20) days from the filing of this notice must petition the court for relief or their claim would be barred by any otherwise applicable statute of limitations, present the claim in the manner as provided in RCW 11.54.070 by serving on or mailing to the Estate Administrator or the Estate Administrator’s attorney at the address stated below a copy of the claim or challenge to the closing motion and filing the original of the claim with the court in which the probate proceedings were commenced. The estate intends to exempt probate funds under the Homestead exemption for the benefit of the minor heir of the estate. RCW 6.13.010. Please examine your grounds for contesting this exemption before filing. Your claim must be presented within the later of: (1) Twenty-three (23) days after the Estate Administrator served or mailed the notice to the creditor as provided under RCW 11.40.020(1)(c) or 20 days after publication in the legal newspaper in Pierce County starting December 6, 2021. If the claim is not presented within this 20-day period, the claim is forever barred. This bar is effective as to claims against both the decedent’s probate and non-probate assets.
