How Joggo Works
Joggo works by learning about your goals and physiology and then creating a running plan based on your answers.
The app is based on three foundational pillars, including:
- Personalized training
- Education
- Motivation
Some people like Joggo for all three pillars, while others are specifically interested in one pillar.
You might want to receive specific mileage targets per week to train for a marathon, for example. Or, you may be interested in running education and training materials, motivational materials to keep you on track, or other features.
Joggo also has additional features you expect in a run tracking app, including GPS-based run tracking, mid-run audio cues, day-by-day tracking, and more.
How the Joggo Quiz Works
The Joggo quiz customizes the app to your unique needs. The app asks things like:
- What is your gender?
- Have you run at all in the last 6 months?
- What is your main goal? Do you want to lose weight, improve mental health, run a specific distance, improve your pace, or stay fit?
- Where do you plan to run? Are you running on trails, pavement, or treadmills and ellipticals?
- How far do you think you could run today? Would you start with a walking plan or do you think you could already run a specific distance comfortably?
- What time of day do you prefer to exercise? Do you want to run in the morning, middle of the day, afternoon, or evening?
- Which days do you like to train? Do you prefer training on specific weekdays? Do you prefer weekends? You can choose 2 to 4 days for running with Joggo, with other days allocated for rest and recovery.
- Do you have any health problems or mobility concerns? Do you have back pain, joint pain, knee pain, asthma, lung disease, diabetes, running-related injuries, or cardiovascular problems?
- Do you want a meal plan along with your running plan? If so, what kind of food allergies and preferences do you have?
- What is your current weight? What is your target weight?
- How old are you?
- How tall are you?
After answering all of these questions, Joggo creates a customized profile based on your unique answers. You can see exactly how long it would take to reach your target weight with Joggo’s customized running and meal plans. You can also see if running is safe for you, what type of accommodations you need (if any), and more.
Joggo Features
Joggo comes with all of the following features:
Progress Tracker: Joggo has a built-in progress tracker, allowing you to see how far you’ve come – and how far you have left to go. Joggo uses a gamification system to encourage you to keep moving forward. You can celebrate victories, push to reach the next level, and continue moving forward to overcome obstacles and reach new goals with each run.
Nutrition Tips & Meal Plan: Joggo comes with an optional meal plan and nutrition tips feature. You can browse tasty recipes, follow a specific meal plan to reach your weight loss goals, promote muscle growth and fat loss, and discover delicious, easy-to-make meals to support your active lifestyle.
Personalized Running Plan Unique to You: The core of Joggo is a personalized running plan that adapts to you. You get tailored, week-by-week running workouts that you can easily stick to. Your running plan comes with warm-up and cool-down exercises to improve your performance, educational articles on health and nutrition, and more.
Daily Calorie Recommendations for Long-Term Weight Loss Goals: Joggo recommends consuming a specific number of calories per day if you want to reach your weight loss goals. If you want to lose 50lbs in the next year, for example, then Joggo can give you daily calorie recommendations based on optimal weight loss and maximum weight loss.
Backed by Evidence from People Like You: Joggo has hundreds of thousands of users, and the app uses data from people like you to continue improving its recommendations. You can discover that people like you reduced their upper body by 11% and their thighs by 20% by following a Joggo program, for example, giving you an idea of what changes to expect.
No Gym or Special Equipment Needed: When customizing your Joggo program, you can choose whether you’re running on a trail, pavement, or treadmill. However, you can follow a Joggo program with no special equipment needed. Unless you prefer running on a treadmill or elliptical, all Joggo information works with no special equipment required.
Estimated Weight Loss Goals: Joggo estimates your expected weight loss goals – including the number of pounds you can lose each week – to help you reach your target weight. If you follow the Joggo running program and the Joggo meal plan, you can genuinely expect to lose this amount of weight within a target period.
Determine If Running is Safe For You: Joggo analyzes your quiz answers to determine if running is safe for you. Even when you tell Joggo you’re a diabetic with heart conditions who is severely overweight, Joggo claims running is safe for you, giving you added support to reach your health and fitness goals.
Made for Beginners: Joggo is designed for beginners. The hardest part of a running program is getting started. Many Joggo users have never gone for a run before. Others haven’t exercised in months. Some start by walking before moving into a running program. Whatever your level is, Joggo aims to be the ultimate running program for beginners.
Running Education: A significant part of the Joggo app consists of education. Joggo delivers articles on injury prevention, nutrition, heart rate zones, breathing techniques, and more. If you want the latest science-backed recommendations for running, working out, and eating right, then Joggo can help.
Recovery Days: A good running program is about more than just running. You tell your Joggo app which days you like to run. Then, Joggo sets up your calendar with running days and recovery days. Running every day can lead to injury and over-training. Joggo has recovery days for maximum long-term performance.
Other Workouts & Warmups: The Joggo app also has other workouts, stretches, and warm up routines you can do before or after running – or on their own. These workouts can be performed at home with no equipment. Some workouts are designed to loosen your muscles after a run, while others are designed to warm you up before a run, strengthen your muscles between runs, or achieve other fitness goals.
Customized Meal Plan: Joggo comes with an optional customized meal plan and recipe book. Joggo asks questions based on your dietary preferences, then creates a custom meal plan based on that information. Maybe you’re a gluten-intolerant vegan who doesn’t like soy. Maybe you hate most fruits and vegetables. Whatever your unique preferences may be, Joggo comes with a customized meal plan for your unique needs.
Built-in Running Tracker: Just like Strava and other popular running apps, Joggo has a built-in running tracker. The app uses your GPS to track your location, distance, and speed. You can browse the running tracker to view previous activities, check your fastest times, and browse your recent workouts.
Works with Treadmills: Whether you’re running inside, outside, or on a treadmill, you can use Joggo on any running surface. You can enter a free run, for example, and input your running information from the treadmill into the app.
Audio Feedback As You Run: Joggo gives you audio feedback as you run, including warmup recommendations for the start of your run, updates on your distance and pace, and more. You can customize these audio cues, get rid of them entirely, or only incorporate certain audio cues into your routine.
Flexible & Affordable Subscription Options: Joggo offers subscriptions priced at $2.50 to $4.00 per week at the introductory rate. You can choose to sign up for a 2-month or 6-month subscription. The longer you subscribe, the more money you save.

About Joggo
Joggo was created by a man named Chris Zibutis, a former Ironman and head running coach.
For years, Chris never understood why people enjoyed running – until his brother challenged him to a 10k run on a short deadline. Chris ran the 10k and loved everything about it. From that point forward, he became an avid runner.
Chris went on a streak of marathons around the world, including in Denmark, Norway, Lithuania, and China. He also did Ironman triathlons.
Soon, Chris’s friends started to join him on runs. He gave them instructions on warmups, running rules, goal setting, training plans, and more.
Chris realized he was onto something. He condensed all of his training recommendations into the Joggo app. Today, anyone can download that app for free to get similar workout and running recommendations from Chris.
