As of Tuesday, Tacomans have a new source for news about their city.
The City of Tacoma launched an online newsroom that is meant to be a one-stop shop for daily news on current city issues.
Citizens can explore the site and check back for daily updates at www.cityoftacoma.org/tacomanews/.
In the coming weeks and months, the city will use the newsroom to provide information about the 2005-2006 biennium budget.
The site also holds links to City Council, committee and neighborhood meeting schedules and agendas; important city documents and reports; letters from the City Manager; plus direct links to city news and information from many different sources including news about Tacoma from national and international sources.
The newsroom features content that had previously been published in the citys online publication Tacoma This Week plus much more but now the information will be updated as news occurs.
The online newsroom kicks off with a budget priority survey that invites visitors to offer their opinions about where the City of Tacoma should focus its spending in the 2005-2006 budget.
