1. Key Peninsula Community Plan open house set for Dec. 14

Citizens will have an opportunity Tues., Dec. 14 to be updated on the Key Peninsula Community Plan project and learn how the plan could impact their community in coming years. An open house will be presented from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Fire District 16 headquarters, 8911 Key Peninsula Highway, Key Center.

Those who attend also will be able to meet their neighbors who serve on the Community Planning Board, review proposed plan vision and goal statements and results of the recent land-use survey and get involved by joining either the natural environment or land use committees.

The plan will address residential, commercial and resource land issues on the Key Peninsula, as well as economic development, transportation and environmental protection.

2. Death of Wallace Ramsdell

Wallace Z. Ramsdell, who served in the 1960s as a Pierce County commissioner and later as a Superior Court judicial assistant, died Nov. 27 at the age of 81. He was the great-great-grandson of William Dougherty, who served on the original Pierce County Board of Commissioners following the County’s creation Dec. 22, 1852.

Ramsdell worked for The News Tribune for 35 years and retired as a retail advertising sales executive. Following retirement he became Judge Donald Thompson’s assistant. Besides serving as county commissioner starting in 1966, he served on the Fircrest Town Council and was a three-term mayor.

He loved to go on cruises with his wife, Bernice. Colleagues in the County-City Building enjoyed hearing accounts of his travels.
