Area residents can visit the Tacoma Mall to participate in the United We Stand charitable campaign – which began yesterday – to benefit a group of funds that support the families of public safety officers who lost their lives in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York City, as well as public agencies that responded to the attack on the Pentagon.
Hosted by the nations leading shopping center companies, the United We Stand campaign will take place at participating shopping centers across the country, including the Tacoma Mall, through Oct. 31.
Throughout the campaign, residents will be able to purchase a United We Stand 2002 calendar, which features images of the American flag, at each participating shopping center.
Calendars are available at the Simon Marketplace Guest Services Booth in front of the Bon Marche.
Proceeds from the sales of the calendars, which retail for $10, will be donated to a group of funds run by the affected officers, including: the EMS Memorial Foundation, Patrolmens Benefit Association Widows & Childrens Fund, Port Authority Police World Trade Disaster Survivors Fund and Uniformed Firefighters Association Widows & Childrens Fund.
Monetary funds will also be contributed to public agencies that responded to the attack on the Pentagon.
Were proud to be one of the more than 415 malls in 44 states, as well as Washington, D.C. metro area and Puerto Rico that have united together to support the families of public safety officers who lost their lives in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. said Lynn Castle, marketing director, Tacoma Mall.
We encourage the local community to participate in the United We Stand campaign to help support this worthy cause.
