State releases regional population statistics

Pierce County’s official 2005 population is 755,900, according to the state Office of Financial Managemen, which released iniformation regarding the statewide population on June 28. The new figure is up 11,900 from last year.

The unincorporated population increased to 345,940 (from 339,477) and the incorporated population increased to 409,960 (from 404,523).
Here are populations of the 24 cities and towns in Pierce County: Auburn 3,930(+43,540 in King County); Bonney Lake, 14,370; Buckley, 4,515; Carbonado, 645; DuPont, 5,410; Eatonville, 2,330; Edgewood, 9,460; Enumclaw, 0 (+11,190 in King County); Fife, 4,855; Fircrest, 6,080; Gig Harbor, 6,765; Lakewood, 58,850; Milton 5,285 (+815 in King County); Orting, 4,820; Pacific, 130 (+5,640 in King County); Puyallup, 35,830; Roy, 865; Ruston, 745; South Prairie, 440; Steilacoom, 6,175; Sumner, 8,940; Tacoma, 196,100; University Place, 30,980; Wilkeson, 440.

Washington State’s 2004 population is 6,256,400, up from 6,167,800 last year. The state’s unincorporated population is 2,438,882 (from 2,395,226), and the incorporated population is 3,817,518 (from 3,772,574).
