More than 40 block parties and gatherings will take to the streets in Tacoma and Pierce County Aug. 2 during the 22nd annual National Night Out. According to local organizers of the nationwide event, more than 2,300 adults and more than 1,500 children are expected to take part in the event, which aims to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and to aid local anti-crime efforts while strengthening neighborhoods and police-community partnerships.
