City’s Information Systems Director resigns

Dave Otto, Business Information Systems Department (BISD) Director for the City of Tacoma, announced today that he will resign from his position effective August 12, 2005. Otto has spent the last five years with the City as director of information technology and the first director of the new BISD. Otto oversaw the creation of the new information systems department.

Otto announced in a statement that he looks forward to enjoying some time in the Northwest summer sun with his family while considering future career opportunities. “I am extremely proud of, and grateful to, the dedicated staff in the Business Information Systems Department along with countless other city employees who have worked very hard to make our technology transformation successful,” Otto said. “I am also truly thankful for the opportunities the City provided me to serve the citizens of Tacoma, and I leave with a profound respect for government service and the dedicated public servants I had the good fortune to work with.”

City Manager Eric Anderson and Utilities Director Mark Crisson announced that they agreed to appoint Linda Carlton, current BISD Assistant Director for SAP, as Acting Director of BISD.
