“The International Y2K Cooperation Center in Washington, D.C. said Tuesday that it expects to see localized glitches continue during the weeks ahead. The center said, however, that it is confident that these will be handled by those affected in the course of normal operations. The center will continue to monitor Y2K-related issues worldwide, and will release an evaluation of international efforts in February. In the meantime, the center and its partners the World Bank and the United Nations Development Program and donor countries are ready to provide assistance, should it be needed, to address any significant Y2K disruptions in the developing world. The center was established in February 1999 under UN auspices with World Bank funding to help coordinate efforts to update computer and automated control systems around the world to provide a smooth technological transition to the year 2000.”
