The Tacoma City Councils Economic Development Committee will meet at 1 p.m. on Sept. 29 with Stephen Brobeck, Executive Director of the Consumer Federation of America, who will speak on the importance of household wealth creation for Tacomas economic development future.
Brobeck recently launched America Saves, a nationwide campaign that helps individuals and families save and build wealth. Seven major cities have adopted America Saves campaigns with 10 more in the planning process. The program focuses on providing information, advice and encouragement from a broad coalition of nonprofit, corporate and government groups to assist people in:
— Paying down debt.
— Building an emergency fund.
— Saving for a home, education or retirement.
