“Tacoma’s E-business Day is unofficially launching with a grand opening reception for Atomic Tangerine’s new downtown office Wednesday evening. This follows the launch of the Washington Software Alliance’s new South Sound Chapter last week. The Stanford Research Institute-spin-off venture capital consulting and Web security firm is hosting two days of activities for their Tacoma office’s grand opening.Wednesday evening’s reception is a low key mixer at the firm’s downtown office, while a more visible media grand opening is to take place Thursday on E-business Day after Governor Gary Locke’s proclamation and speech on Theatre Square in the Tacoma Farmers Market at 11:00 a.m.More media attention continues to turn toward Tacoma’s tech scene and E-business Day activities, though some local media seem to be missing the boat. Index coverage leading up to the event is being carried daily on approximately 50,000 Web sites, while a 60-second radio spot is running on KLAY 1180 AM radio today and tomorrow promoting E-business Day.A sky writer will be spelling out eBusiness Day at an altitude of 10,000 feet over Tacoma just before Governor Locke’s appearance around 10:50 a.m. Thursday morning. The airborne message should be visible for about 20 miles in all directions, and will be readable for 10 to 20 minutes. The sky writing pilot, Bill Owens, is no stranger to the e-world himself – he happens to own an Internet Service Provider company in Everett. The Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce is doing their part to make E-business Day extend beyond the boundaries of the City of Tacoma.Chamber offices are serving as an exhibition site for one company – Advanced Biometrics – that is based in Puyallup, as well as playing host to two Seattle companies during the event – Fuze Technologies and Focal Communications – both of which are reportedly scouting for office space in the Tacoma area. All three companies are members of the chamber and will have exhibits during e-Business Day detailing their products and services. “
