“Washington State Historic Preservation Officer Allyson Brooks has announced the availability of grant funds to aid in the rehabilitation of historic properties. Brooks initiated the Preservation Works for Washington grant program to provide financial assistance to owners needing a boost to undertake brick and mortar type projects on their historic properties.The Preservation Works for Washington grant program will provide financial assistance to owners needing a boost to undertake brick and mortar type projects on their historic properties.Up to a maximum of $50,000 per grant will be available by spring 2001, to rehabilitate properties listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the Washington Heritage Register, or properties listed in a local register of historic places that would also be eligible for the National Register.Applicants must match grant awards by at least 50 percent in cash or materials. Total amount of funds available through the Preservation Works for Washington grant program is $125,000. Eligible projects include work on privately and publicly owned properties as well as those owned or controlled by non-profit organizations.Grant application forms are available by contacting the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation at 360/407-0753, or by visiting the agency’s web site at: www.ocd.wa.gov/info/lgd/oahp. Deadline for submitting applications in Jan. 31, 2001. “
