A draft of the Environmental Assessment on the proposed Pierce Transit Peninsula Park & Ride project is now available as a pdf to download for public review, as well as additional documents, images, and appendices.
Pierce Transit proposes to build a new park and ride lot on the west side of SR 16 from Hunt Street, where it ends at SR 16, and across SR 16 from the existing park and ride lot at Kimball Drive in Gig Harbor, Washington. A pedestrian bridge will be constructed to link both facilities to each other and to a proposed future in-line median platform and bus stops in SR 16.
Phase 1 of the project will include construction of 500-600 parking stalls west of SR 16 and a pedestrian bridge connecting to the existing Kimball Drive Park and Ride. Fixed route bus passengers will utilize the pedestrian crossing to pick up the bus at the Kimball Drive Park and Ride facility.
Phase 2 will consist of construction of a future in-line median platform and bus stops in SR 16 with connections to the pedestrian bridge to serve both park and ride lots. The in-line station will be accessed directly from HOV lanes and will involve modifications to SR 16 in the immediate vicinity of the in-line station. The in-line median station is a future action not fully evaluated in the environmental document and may require further environmental review.
