Project engineers will be on hand Wednesday, April 26 at Woodbrook Middle School in Lakewood to answer questions about the current status of the State Route (SR) 704 Cross-Base project.
An Access Hearing will follow the open house. The formal Access Hearing is a legal procedure to allow abutting property owners and others the opportunity to provide testimony related to property access. Comments will be recorded and included in the formal project record.
The open house and hearing will be held at Woodbrook Middle School, 14920 Spring Street SW, in Lakewood. The open house will begin at 4pm, and the hearing will begin at 6pm.
When completed, the Cross-Base highway will provide regional travelers with a new 6-mile-long, multi-lane divided highway. According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the new alternate east-west route will ease congestion on I-5, SRs 512 and 7, Spanaway Loop Road and 174th Street by providing a more direct travel route through Fort Lewis and McChord military bases.
